In 1983 Goalpara Civil Sub -Division was separated from original Goalpara District and the present Goalpara District was formed. The administrative structure of the district is as follows :

Sub-Division :

The district is consisting of only one Sub-Division namely Goalpara (Sadar) Sub-Division.

Administrative existence of the district as :

1. Deputy Commissioner (One)

2. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Four)

3. Sub-Divisional Officer (Sadar)- (Two)

4. Extra Assistant Commissioner (Four)

Revenue Circle :
There are 5 (five) revenue circles under the jurisdiction of Goalpara district at present.
They are :

1. Balijana
2. Lakhipur
3. Matia
4. Rangjuli
5. Dudhnai
 

Community Development Blocks :
There are 8 (eight) community blocks in the district according to 1991 census which are as follows :
